L/O: research the 1960s (UK) in terms of social, historic and political climate of the decade; research the TV show the Avengers

• In May 1960 the first contraceptive pill was first used but only for married women.
• Homosexuality was legalised in 1967 for males over 21
• There was still racism 
• Men sexualised women 
• A lot of drug use in this decade, hippies with marijuana, kids in ghettos used heroin
• Feminism - fighting for equal rights
• A lot of people were poor
• People were coming out of the rationing era
• NO TECHNOLOGY
• Britain didn't get involved in the Vietnam war
• Harold Macmillan was the prime minister 
• Abortion was legalised in 1968
• Famous bands : The beatles, The rolling stones, The beach boys, The who

• ABC television produced The Avengers
• Primary audience were women, secondary audience were men
• The first episode aired in 7 january 1961 
• There are 6 seasons
• The last episode aired in 21 May 1969
