Analysing film posters

The image on this poster makes you want to watch the movie because the main image is of a women and behind her is this man with a mask holding a knife. This makes it creepy because the man in the background is faded a bit and the women in the front is bold which means you look at her first then you realize that there is a man behind her.

The words on the poster “Silence can be killer” makes you think about what the movies is about and make you want to watch it. This makes the viewer think about what the movie could be about for example the word "silence" can mean that she could be deaf.

The colour they have used for the image is a dark colour but the knife is reflecting light which makes her face knife up and the man behind her is in the dark. The main colour used is black which could connote death.

  1. Good observations regarding all aspects of media language, well done. Targets:
    1) Break your work up into paragraphs e.g. P1 Imagery P2 Title Text and P3 Colour pallet.
    2) Add to your paragraph about the title e.g. why does the font style show the audience the film is from the horror genre?
    3) Add to your colour pallet paragraph e.g. what are the main colours used? What do these colours connote (make you think of)? Why do they show the genre and attract the target audience?
